Welp, if you weren’t at the EDGE last night you missed out on an incredible night! The Bruce Brothers brought it in Air Guitar…. Scottie and Dunbar and Sean and BJ better bring their A game next week! One of the funniest moments I have ever been a part of happened last night when Lincoln and I were in the dramatic part of our skit on prayer and he being “God” said “all my childrens”……. Probably not as funny if you weren’t there but that is why I ran it in the ground last night while speaking! You should listen to the podcast and get a chuckle.
Proverbs 17:10 says that a rebuke is more effective for a wise man than a hundred blows on a fool……
There is an overwhelming attitude in a lot of people that think they are above correction. We have the “how dare you” mentality. Listen, no one likes doing something wrong but if you can’t handle correction then you will always do things wrong.
Notice the scripture said that a rebuke is effective on a “wise man”…. A fool runs from correction and will do anything to avoid it, like pass blame on someone else. If you consider yourself to be wise than ask yourself how you handle correction or even constructive criticism. Some people who are really wise actually look for people who can show them things they do poorly so they can work on it! Crazy I know but it actually happens.
Durning your week take a little inventory of how you react when mom or dad bring correction in your life… Will you be wise and accept it and learn from it or will you be like the fool who gains nothing from correction or discipline?
Have a great week! Look forward to hanging out Wednesday… well, that is if you go to school… I hear there is a chance of sunshine so it might be canceled… It may be real bad in Monterey so we will have to see.

Well I finally bit the bullet and joined the Twitter Revolution. I will try to keep it updated… If you have an account and would like to follow feel free to do so..

It’s another beautiful day outside and allĀ Putnam county students find themselves asking a familiar question… “Why aren’t we in school today”? I would like to note for the record the question stated previously is one that may not be answered in this lifetime. There are only things we can assume about why you aren’t in school…. Nothing good happens when we do that so I won’t take the time to smother with my sarcastic comments about how ridiculous it is that you are sleeping till 3pm again today…
Enough about that! I had an amazing day yesterday and I wanted to share a few thoughts from it with you. First of all, I had the extreme privilege of having lunch with one of my heroes in the faith yesterday. About 18 months ago a book was suggested to me. The book was Wild Goose Chase by Mark Batterson. During this time in my life I was feeling a bit complacent spiritually and I was really needing a challenge. Well, this book did more than that. It actually began to shape the way I view some priorities in my life and much more. I remember feeling like I hooked up so much with Mark because there were certain convictions about life and ministry that we were on the same wavelength… (although his wavelength is much smarter than mine) Anyway, I remember reading one the chapters in the book and I asked the Lord this ridiculous request….. I said “Lord, I would sure love to have lunch with a guy like that”. Crazy right?
Yesterday I had that privilege! It wasn’t just me in the room but Mark did sit right across the table from me! The neat thing was that right next to me was Pastor Bob who God has used in my lifeĀ more ways than I can write about and then with us was Mark who has really challenged me to the core with some of his perceptions on life! It was a day that I will never forget and it was great leaving that room feeling refreshed and excited about serving God!!!!
The main thought I want to share with you is that there is absolutely nothing to ridiculous for you to ask God! Listen, He is our heavenly Father and just like any father if there is a way they can bless their kids they want to do so! I hope you guys have a great day resting and being lazy bums!
Love you all,
Greg
Welp, Laura and I are in the process of moving into our new home which is exciting and dreadful at the same time! At first I wasn’t really concerned with moving all the stuff we have because we didn’t have much stuff……oh wait…. You never realize how much junk you accumulate until you have to start tearing into it and moving it and organizing.
I got to thinking about all the accumulated stuff and it made me realize that by just living life we gradually collect more stuff…. Whether it’s things that we don’t want to part with or just stuff we totally forget about we end up having more than we ever realize.
I believe the same thing happens in our lives but unfortunately the things we collect and store up aren’t things we generally want. The Bible says in James for us to lay aside all wickedness… This literally means for us to clean out our spiritual closets on a regular basis. Just by living life you and I collect things that aren’t God’s best for our lives and if we don’t regularly take inventory of what is happening in our lives you find yourself in the same situation I am in with my physical move asking the question of “how did I get so much junk”?
Listen, we live in an ugly and dirty world and we are going to get nasty while we live in it…. Don’t wait like I did and let all of your junk accumulate and now you have to spend days going through it and doing a mass house cleaning. If we are diligent to spend time with our heavenly Father He will show us what needs to be cleaned on a regular basis! He is faithful to forgive us and CLEANSE us from all unrighteousness…. How cool is that? We have someone who will help us do a spiritual house cleaning!!! Just wish He moved boxes too!!!!
Hope you guys have great snow day and look forward to seeing you tomorrow night!
Love you all,
Greg
